Hacienda House
In January 2014 we started working on a house in California which was destined to lead to a dead-end way too early. However I'm sharing some of the drawings I've done for it.
The site is located on a hillside, facing towards a beautiful forest. The sequence of spaces are to be directed by the topography. The same method would not work the same way on a flat site. There is a strong influence of topography on every project.
Only photo we've taken was on a site visit in a very foggy weather. The fog has given the idea of having a very long building (100m) where the corridor acts as the living space as well. In a foggy day, hopefully half of the house would disappear standing at one end looking towards the other.
One end is thought as more visitor friendly, the other as the private end. The divider at one quarter distance of the whole building could be closed with a curtain completely hiding the bedrooms from the living rooms. Therefore the house has the ability to become two houses if the owner decides to do so.
