Hacienda House

In January 2014 we started working on a house in California which was destined to lead to a dead-end way too early. However I'm sharing some of the drawings I've done for it.

The site is located on a hillside, facing towards a beautiful forest. The sequence of spaces are to be directed by the topography. The same method would not work the same way on a flat site. There is a strong influence of topography on every project.

Only photo we've taken was on a site visit in a very foggy weather. The fog has given the idea of having a very long building (100m) where the corridor acts as the living space as well. In a foggy day, hopefully half of the house would disappear standing at one end looking towards the other.

One end is thought as more visitor friendly, the other as the private end. The divider at one quarter distance of the whole building could be closed with a curtain completely hiding the bedrooms from the living rooms. Therefore the house has the ability to become two houses if the owner decides to do so.

Kurbagalidere Masterplan

Our submission for the ideas competition held by Kadıköy Municipality of Istanbul for the Kurbagalidere district. The site on the two sides of the Kurbagalidere river already hosts a football stadium and swimming pool owned by Fenerbahçe Sports Club. We propose to extend and renew the area for the IOC Summer Olympics Istanbul 2020/2024 bid.

The project highlights the major nodes such as the train station, football stadium, Yogurtcu Park and builds a perimeter around each of them, until the zones become adjacent to each other. Straight connections such as walks, driveways run tangent to these circular zones. A secondary system, a grid is laid underneath the circular system proposed, providing new connections that are less dense.

Every perimeter has different characteristics. While the perimeter around the Sukru Saracoglu stadium is an elevated bridge spanning between the stadium and the existing Sogutlucesme Train Station, another one is a boundary set by the use of trees only.
The most important element for the ideas competition, Kuşdili Meadow is proposed to be a new hill that creates a visual connection between the waterfront and the business district near the metrobus station, Uzunçayır.

Time Warner & Dogan Istanbul

One section of the Time Warner & Doğan building I'm working on for my project: Migrant Corporation with Diploma 8 unit master, Eugene Han.

The lower 25m is the permanent, higher 25m level is the impermanent space where ownerships change depending on the corporation's economic situation.
